Meet Jessica

Jessica Weaver recently celebrated her one-year anniversary as an employee at Ashe Library.  Her dedication and hard work is greatly appreciated by co-workers as well as patrons.  Jessica works at the circulation desk and greets everyone with a smile that is contagious.   With a little listening and understanding she can recommend the right book for just about anyone.   She enjoys talking to people about their books as well as being able to give and get recommendations.   It’s a given that working in the library is a GREAT job when you love to read!   “Since working here, my to-read list has grown tremendously,” noted, Jessica.

In the last year, Jessica has picked up on several authors that are now new favorites of hers.  Those include James Patterson, C.J. Box, and Jodi Picoult.  Her favorite reading genre is mystery/thriller.

Outside of working in the library Jessica is a talented artist specializing in paintings of animals, landscapes and old structures.  She loves hiking and riding horses and lately has begun learning to sew.  Jessica shares her excitement on learning to sew, “I found some of my great grandmother's old clothing scraps, and I am currently hand- sewing a quilt with those scraps. My great grandmother did a lot of sewing and saved old clothes to recycle them into beautiful quilts.  It is so neat to see the different fabrics and know the stories behind them as the quilt grows.”

Stop by the library and see some of Jessica’s art, on display in the upstairs art gallery, through the month of February.  And, don’t forget to stop at the circulation desk for some good reading recommendations.
