Be AWESOME!

Throughout March, Ashe County Public Library presents new Involving Books Programming that will focus on topics of Compassion, Cooperation, and the Power of Giving.  Inspiring books by Robby Novak, Kid President’s Guide to Being Awesome and Jenny Santi, The Giving Way to Happiness, are available at the library to READ, SHARE, and RETURN.  These books were selected to inspire conversation about how we can make our community and the world a better place.  There are many ways to give back or ‘pay it forward.’  When we work together, everything begins with a possibility.

Santi’s book is a collection of short stories that share how the act of giving actually improves our own lives as well. In The Giving Way to Happiness, Jenny Santi overturns conventional thinking about what it takes to be happy by revealing how giving to others – whether in the form of money, expertise, time, or love has helped people from all walks of life find purpose and joy.

Robby Novak, aka Kid President, has a video channel on YouTube, known as Soul Pancake.  Despite having been born with osteogenesis imperfecta, a brittle bone condition, he continues to live large with an upbeat and positive outlook on life.  His enthusiasm is contagious and his book, Guide to Being Awesome, has 100+ ways to spread happiness.  In a quote from the back cover of his book Robby says, ‘This is life, people. You got air coming through your nose; you got a heartbeat. That means it's time to do something.’  Special programming to highlight activities in this book are planned for every Saturday in March.

Come out and join the fun, be awesome, learn how to give, how to find a purpose, or how to make an impact!
