Complementary Colors, by The Artist's Way, on Display at Ashe Library

Ashe County Library announces an artist reception on September 10, 2016. A reception for “Complementary Colors”, an exhibit by a group called The Artist’s Way, will be held on Friday, September 10, 2016 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the upstairs gallery at the Ashe County Public Library.

The Artist’s Way is a group of seven women artists located in the Blowing Rock area. The group includes Theresa Early Curd, Kat Leahey, Ellie Lyne, Pricilla Popper, Linda Dease Smith, Annie Stone, and LaMae Strange who began meeting in 2008 when they first gathered for a twelve-week study of Julia Cameron’s best-selling book, The Artist’s Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity. Since then they continued to gather in search of “creative recovery”, as well as providing a place where self-criticism and criticism from others does not interfere with the creative process. The group continues to meet twice a month to collaborate and support one another as they continue on the inspired path together. Their meetings begin with a meditation followed by a two-minute check-in by discussing anything significant that has happened. This is followed by a productive dialogue on a pre-selected subject led by one of the members. The group creates a safe atmosphere where ideas can be shared and members can support each other. The public is invited to the opening and to support our local artists. Refreshments will be served.
