2015 Challenge Quilt Winners Pumpkin Patch Challenge on Display at the Library

2015 Challenge Quilt Winners Pumpkin Patch Challenge on Display at the Library

October is here, pumpkin month and the Ashe County Public Library is happy to present the annual "Challenge Quilt Winners, Pumpkin  Patch Challenge by the Ashe County Piecemakers Guild in the upstairs gallery.  This year's challenge required that each quilt square use the colors: orange, black and green while producing a pumpkin or pumpkins with facial expressions. And the pumpkin faces are delightful, colorful and playful.

The Guild formed in 2002 meets the second Thursday of each month with a social time at 2:00 p.m. and a business meeting at 2:15 p.m. at the Ashe County Senior Citizens Center located at 180 Chattyrob Lane. in West Jefferson. The meetings consist of  a social time, business, Show & Tell, and a program.
There is a "Sew Day" on the first Thursday of each month at the Senior Center at 12:30 to give members a chance to work together on charity quilts and other projects.  Winter meetings can be cancelled because of weather conditions. Our goals are to educate, to preserve the heritage of quilting, to inform and inspire, to Perpetuate a high quality of excellence in quilting and related arts, and to be a gathering for people with a common interest.   .
Other venues this fall include the Florence School of Art the evening of October 9 and The Church of the Fresco’s Festival in Glendale Springs on October 10.
