December Youth Services Happenings

There are plenty of ways for families to squeeze in some holiday fun at the Ashe County Public Library before the relatives come to town!

Anytime you’re in the library from December 1st to the 16th, choose to accept the Elf on the Shelf mission. If you can find the elf hidden among the bookshelves and complete the daily task, you’ll be entered to win a family fun basket.

Celebrate the magic of the season by visiting the December StoryWalk®, Tap the Magic Tree, at the Ashe County Park off old Highway 16. See the Monday, October 13 blogpost to learn more about how this project works.   Then on December 6, come to the library to create your own magic tree out of paper.

Tis the season for decorating! At 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 16, all ages are invited to put their imaginations to the test as they create Christmas ornaments for Ornamentality.  All supplies are provided, including glitter.

Regular youth programming continues for the first two weeks of December.
Baby Bounce (birth to 24 months) – 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 9
Tot Time (ages 2-3 years) – 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 3 and 10
Storytime (ages 4-5 years) – 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 11
Wrap up library festivities with a special presentation of the Cajun Night Before Christmas, read in Creole dialect by LaMae Strange. If you haven’t been too naughty, you might get a special visit from Santa Claus, straight from the North Pole.
