Meet Cynthia Dixon, featured artist in the Library’s upstairs gallery. A reception to open her exhibit will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 8, with her work on display throughout the month. Her colorful, seasonal landscapes and still life paintings invite viewers to participate in scenic visions of Ashe County and its spectacular mountains.

Cynthia, a native and resident of Western North Carolina, lives in the beautiful mountains of Ashe County with her husband, John. She paints original designs from hand painted wall paper to unusual murals on glass and mirror using  a variety of different mediums.  She was a student of Jerry Goodnight, Raney Rogers and most recently Daniel Edmondson.

A woman of many talents, Cynthia  has played the flute, piccolo and alto sax, as well as piano, in marching bands, concert bands and jazz bands competing and performing in hundreds of concerts.  She is also a certified aerobics instructor with additional certification in Zumba® and Zumba® Toning.   She enjoys teaching, as well as landscaping and flower gardening.
